Phase 3: Analyze

Step 1: Compile and Interpret the Data

A.    Orient to the Process. Review all of the Phase 3 tools to gain a complete understanding of the process and activity steps.

B.    Follow the Instructions in the Community Engagement Instructions. This allows an individual to transfer responses from interviews and focus groups into the Full Engagement Worksheet and Key Element Question Matrices. 

C.    Complete the Engagement Priority Rating Spreadsheet. This shows how items rate for activity level and action priority.

Staying Organized

Create a system to organize the questionnaires and enter the interview and focus group findings into the toolkit synthesis tools as the questionnaires are completed rather than waiting to do it all at once.

Download from the set of tools to the right and save copies of the Community Engagement Tool, the Strengths Worksheet, Gaps Worksheet, the Referrals Worksheet, the Engagement Priority Rating Spreadsheet, and the Key Element Question Matrices.  If you do not survey each sector, all of the matrices may not apply.

Questionnaire Management

Sort all questionnaires into the 11 sectors and create a letter and number code for each questionnaire.

To assign the letter, abbreviate the sector category to create the first portion of the code.  Example: Community Member = CM

To assign the number, count the total number of questionnaires completed in each sector and assign numbers accordingly.  Start with 1 and end with x number completed. Example: If 30 community member questionnaires were completed, the codes would read CM:1, CM: 2, CM: 3, and so on.

File the questionnaires neatly in an accordion-style file folder

Create a quick reference cover page for each sector that includes the total number of questionnaires in the sector and special comments about the data collected (e.g. surprises, key learning points, etc.)
